Who We Are

The Optimist Club of Farmington & Farmington Hills, Michigan is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women banded together for progressive thought and action in community service. Our membership is composed of citizens drawn from business, industry, government and other professions. Our members are motivated by their desire to contribute to the community in which they and their families draw daily benefits. There is no greater opportunity for participation in community affairs and community service than in an Optimist Club.

Optimist International

Our club is part of Optimist International, recognized worldwide as an organization of people committed to optimism and self-development for the improvement of youth and community.

  • Clubs Today: 3,500
  • Membership: 114,000 (as of 7/31/02)
  • Service: 6,000,000 young people served each year; 65,000 service projects conducted annually; $78,000,000 spent annually on community service projects

The Optimist Creed

Club Full Member Dues:

  • $35.00 – one-time initial membership fee for Optimist International
  • $95.00 – due per calendar quarter for club dues. This covers a one-time registration fee of $15.00 to Optimist International and quarterly dues of $15.69 plus Michigan Optimist dues of $3.75 per quarter. The balance of the member dues pays for our breakfasts and administration expenses.
  • With your membership you will receive the Optimist International Magazine and Michigan District Opti View Newsletter quarterly.

Friends Of Optimist (FOO) Member:

  • Member pays annual dues of $100.00 to National
  • This entitles the FOO member one breakfast per quarter
  • The FOO member can attend additional breakfast meetings for $8.00 per meeting
  • They will receive announcements of all member meetings and events
  • Can attend and participate in all events unless a special charge for everyone is required
  • Cannot vote or chair an event
  • With your membership you will receive the Optimist International Magazine and Michigan District Opti View Newsletter quarterly.
