Guest Speaker: Kevin Christiansen

Update on all activities in Farmington, MI
Kevin Christiansen is the Economic and Community Development Director for the City of Farmington. He has served in this capacity for 8 years. Prior to that, Kevin served as an appointed member of both the City Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Commission. He was Chairperson of both groups.
Kevin is a native Michigander. He and his family, wife Jackie and children Keith, Kelly, Katie and Keagan, have lived in Farmington for 21 years. Kevin has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and a Master of Science Degree in Geography (Land Use Analysis/Urban Planning), both from Easter Michigan University. He has been involved in Community Planning and Development as a Professional Urban Planner for 35 years.
Kevin has helped shepherd businesses into the community such as Fresh Thyme, The Farmington Brewing Company and The Cheese Lady. He works with the City’s businesses to ensure that all of their structure and design needs meet City codes and ordinances. The Economic and Community Development Department is responsible for Planning, Zoning, Building and Code Enforcement.
Kevin is also the City administrator/staff liaison for many boards and commissions including the Women’s Park Committee, Recreation Master Plan Committee, Parking Committee, Planning Commission, Historical Commission, Grand River Corridor Improvement Authority and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Kevin is currently working on updating the Grand River Corridor Improvement Authority Vision Plan, and the City’s Capital Improvement Program.
Kevin has enjoyed coaching his children’s softball, baseball and hockey teams. In his spare time, he plays hockey and golf, and goes hunting with his dog Luna.
