Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club chooses Essay Contest Winners

Farmington, Michigan—On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, the Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club announced the winners of its annual Essay Contest that it holds for middle and high school students.

The topic for this year’s Essay Contest was: “Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges.” Winning students and their families were invited to a breakfast where the students read their essays for the Club. Winners were awarded a medal for their efforts along with a cash prize.

1st Place – Tejas Maire (Frost Middle School, Livonia Public Schools)

2nd Place – Sanjiv Seshan (East Middle School, Seventh Grader, Farmington Public Schools)

3rd Place – Yash Mehta (Warner Middle School, Seventh Grader, Farmington Public Schools)

High School Winners

2nd Place – Shiv Seshan (Harrison High School Freshman, Farmington Public Schools)

3rd Place – Yashasvini Nannapuraju (Harrison High School Junior, Farmington Public Schools)

“All of the students did such a wonderful job with their essays,” said Contest Chairperson Anna Durham. “This is one of the highlights of the Club each year.”
