Optimist International has announced details for the 2026-2027 Optimist International Essay Contest, giving young people an opportunity to express their ideas, strengthen their writing skills, and compete for a college scholarship.
This year’s contest topic is:
“Finding My Voice in a World Full of Noise”
The Optimist International Essay Contest encourages young people to share their own opinions and perspectives about the world in which they live. Essays may draw upon a student’s personal experiences, experiences within their community or country, or even a broader historical perspective.
Through the contest, students are encouraged to think critically about the topic and communicate their ideas through thoughtful, well-developed writing. In addition to improving their written communication skills, participants have the opportunity to earn recognition and compete for a college scholarship.
$2,500 District Scholarship
The winner at the District level will receive a $2,500 college scholarship sponsored by Optimist International.

The theme “Finding My Voice in a World Full of Noise” gives students an opportunity to consider what it means to develop their own ideas and perspectives while navigating the many voices and influences they encounter every day.
