Optimist Essay Contest for 2024 – 2025
Use your writing skills to express your views to the world around you and for a chance to win a college scholarship.
WHO CAN ENTER? Students in 6, 7 & 8th grades and 9 – 12th grades. (2 contests)
All students who enter must either go to school in or live within the Farmington/Farmington Hills boundaries.
TOPIC: “How Optimism Has Paved My Road to Success”
PRIZES: First place – $250, 2nd place – $200, 3rd place – $150. All contestants at each level must show
proof of age either with a copy of a birth certificate or passport.
The high school winner’s essay will advance to the state-wide District level in the Spring, where the overall
winner receives a $2,500 scholarship.
ESSAY REQUIREMENT: 700-800 Words
WHEN: Submission Date – Tuesday, January 21, 2025
AWARD BREAKFAST CEREMONY: Winning students and their families are invited to a breakfast on
February 26, 2025 at 7:30 am to be given their awards at First Presbyterian Church of Farmington.
