Nathan Jamil Scholarship

Helping local children access opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.

The Nathan Jamil Scholarship provides financial assistance for educational programs, camps, tutoring, special services, and other opportunities for children in the Farmington and Farmington Hills community.

Honoring Nathan Jamil

The Nathan Jamil Scholarship was created in honor of longtime Farmington/Farmington Hills Breakfast Optimist Club member and friend Nathan Jamil, whose life reflected the spirit of optimism and service at the heart of the Optimist mission.

For over 20 years, Nathan was part of the Optimist Club and dedicated himself to his family, his church, St. Fabian, and the surrounding community. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Nathan was known for his infectious smile, generosity, and love of life.

His commitment to others and genuine optimism have inspired those around him. The scholarship that bears his name carries that spirit forward by creating new opportunities for children throughout the community.

Creating Opportunities for Local Children

The Nathan Jamil Scholarship helps children from preschool through high school participate in educational and developmental opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

Scholarship assistance may be used for early childhood programs, special services, YMCA camps and programs, tutoring, and other educational opportunities.

Awards are based on need or merit and may provide partial or full funding depending on the circumstances of the applicant and the availability of scholarship funds.
